TOWN OF EATON, NEW HAMPSHIRE 03832 EVANS MEMORIAL BUILDING
BOARD OF SELECTMEN
April 22, 2008 The regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen took place on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008 at the Evans Memorial Building. Present were: Rick Young, Don Philbrick and Aaron Blake. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. The minutes for the meeting of April 15th were accepted as distributed. Rick Young reported that he had heard from Jason Lodge of Hoyle, Tanner and Associates. An archeological survey of the area that will impacted by the Potter Rd bridge construction is needed. The survey is more extensive than usual because of its proximity to known Indian sites on Conway Lake. This will probably delay the construction of the bridge to next year. Don Philbrick noted an ice house had been parked at the beach for several weeks. Aaron Blake will check to see if the ownership is inscribed on the outside side of the building as required by law and will then refer to the owner. If ownership is not apparent then the New Hampshire Fish & Game Department will be contacted. The Town received a check from the Northern Carroll County District Court for $86.40 for a fine for a youthful indiscretion in 2006. It prompted a discussion about an outstanding court ordered debt owed to the Town by Thomas Mahoney that had never been satisfied despite several trips back to court. The Selectmen agreed to contact the Town attorney to see what could be done to retrieve the approximately $2,500 outstanding. Attorney Fay Melendy and John Waterman met last week with the Planning Board and discussed access to a landlocked parcel on the old Lary Rd. The Planning Board is required to review and comment in accordance with RSA 674:41. They were conceptually in support of the proposal but noted that no written documentation was provided for the required easements or for any associated conditions. Correspondence was received from Matt Low, of Hoyle, Tanner and Associates indicating a preliminary set of plans for the Potter Rd bridge has been filed with the New Hampshire Department of Transportation. The EPA was requesting assistance in notifying local contractors and landlords about Lead PRE rule which affects renovations/repairs in residential housing built before 1978 and is designed to provide residents with information to help prevent lead exposure, The Legislative Bulletin # 18 dealt with retirement, labor bills, and the right to know law. Issues with AT&T as the long distance telephone provide were discussed. The Selectmen agreed to seek an alternative provider. Suzanne Raiche and Jeanne Hartman were in attendance. The meeting adjourned at 9 00 p.m. Respectfully submitted, David V. Maudsley |
