The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. The Selectmen reviewed checks and signed the accounts payable manifest for $31,764.75 for 20 items. The minutes for the meeting of April 22nd were accepted as amended. Rick Young said he had spoken with Bud Nelson about the property off the Willis Bean Road (Tax Map R12, lot 10) the Town is going to purchase. Bud Nelson will be getting a title deed prior to conveyance to the Town. Rick Young noted the roadside posts were in disarray at the beach. He will call Charlie Gibbs of the Department of Transportation to see if replacement posts are available. There was a discussion on volunteers painting the posts. There was a discussion about the ice house that had been adorning the beach last week. Aaron Blake said he had looked at it but was unable to find any ID on it. The ice house had since been moved to the corner of Rte 153 and the Brownfield Rd across from the beach. It was not anticipated that it would be there for long. Rick Young said he had spoken with Cliff Cabral and given him the go ahead to clean up the cemeteries before Memorial Day. Debbie Callis filed an application for a building permit to demolish a storage trailer that had collapsed under a heavy snow load. The application was reviewed, approved and signed by the Board of Selectmen (Building permit #2803). Signature item was a letter to the Galat’s requesting reimbursement for a false fire alarm call. According to the print out from the Real Data Corp there were just seven property sales in Eaton last year. The Department of Revenue Administration has determined that the equalized valuation for the Town in 2007 is $106,473,378. The Office of Energy and Planning were requesting an update on the number of building permits for dwelling units issued by the Town in 2007. Elizabeth Edge inquired on whether a building permit was required to replace and extend a fence on Edge property on Crystal Lake. The Selectmen noted that permits were not required for fences. There was a discussion about code requirements for smoke alarms if the property is rented. There was also an animated yearning for the days of yore. The bill for the School this year will be $557,716.86. Carol Mayhofer signed checks. The Primex Annual Meeting is on May 21-May 22 at Church Landing in Meredith.
