BOARD OF SELECTMEN

January 22, 2008

The regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen took place on Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008 at the Evans Memorial Building. Present were: Don Philbrick, Rick Young and Lee Stack. The meeting was called to order at 7 p.m.

The Supervisors of the Checklist were in session from 7 to 7:30 p.m.

The Selectmen reviewed checks and signed the accounts payable manifest for $34,471.07 for 34 items.

The minutes of the meeting of January 15th were accepted as amended.

Stewart Heath was in and discussed the road construction he has done so far for the Blue subdivision. The Department of Environmental Services permit is still in dispute so the culverts have not been installed. There is still more work to be done but the Selectmen authorized partial release of the performance guarantee.

Mia Gannon from Thorne Surveys was in to discuss the septic issue for the Burri property on Rte 153. There is an issue over setbacks to wetlands and she was seeking input from the Selectmen on applying for a variance to the Zoning Board of Adjustment.

Don Philbrick said he had spoken with Elwyn Thurston about the relocation of the School bus and the need to keep the beach area plowed and sanded.

Rick Young said he corresponded with Matt Lowe of Hoyle, Tanner and Associates about the trees on Potter Rd that may have to be removed. They will be addressed in the spring.

The Selectmen reviewed a proposal from Hoyle, Tanner and Associates for the design of the Potter Rd bridge. Rick Young made a motion to accept the proposal, seconded by Lee Stack. The motion carried unanimously.

Dick Fortin met with the Selectmen and discussed the progress on the road construction for the Blue subdivision and the current status of the wetlands permit application.

Signature item was a letter to Whit Whitman regarding a setback problem for a newly constructed deck and the need to go to the Zoning Board of Adjustment for a variance.

Lee Stack reviewed the last Planning Board meeting. They had reviewed the Bylaws and Rules of Procedure and they are now ready for adoption.

The Budget hearing is set for Thursday, February 7th at 7 p.m. at Town Hall.

The Selectmen accepted a bid of $817 for printing of the Town Report from Minuteman Press.

Carol Mayhofer signed checks.

The Legislative Bulletin #5 from the Local Government Center was distributed.

Correspondence from PSNH provided details of the policies and procedures for transmission line easements.

The New Hampshire Highway Safety Agency had sent details of a grant program for issues associated with highway safety.

Lee Stack said he anticipates doing a lot of traveling this year and was debating on whether he should continue as a Selectmen,

Mark Griffin and Suzanne Raiche were in attendance.

The meeting adjourned at 9 p.m.
