BOARD OF SELECTMEN

March 11, 2008

The regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen took place on Tuesday, March 11th, 2008 at the Evans Memorial Building. Present were: Don Philbrick, Rick Young and Lee Stack. The meeting was called to order at 11:15 a.m. It was Town Meeting Day.

The Selectmen reviewed checks and signed the accounts payable manifest for $ 30,401.00 for three items.

The minutes for the meeting of March 4th were accepted as distributed.

The Selectmen signed off on a recommendation to the State Department of Resources and Economic Development, Division of Forest and Lands that Larry Nash become the Fire Warden. The Selectmen also signed off on recommendations for reappointment of the deputy fire wardens.

Lee Stack reviewed a letter to be sent to FairPoint concerning the results of the survey of residents interested in high speed internet access.

Elwyn Thurston met with the Selectmen and discussed the budget and the condition of Town roads.

Whit Whitman’s appeal for a special exception for a deck on her property on Brownfield Rd (Tax map U2, lot 12) had been granted by the Zoning Board of Adjustment. The Board of Selectmen signed the building permit conditional upon the permit fee being received. (Building permit # 2725).

Randall and Gail Parker had filed a building permit application for a storage shed for property located on Roberts Rd (Tax map R10 , lot 4). It was reviewed, approved and signed by the Board of Selectmen (Building permit # 2726). The fee of $16 was paid by check.

The Selectmen reviewed the State statutes on building codes and the setting and enforcement of fines for building without a permit.

The Selectmen reviewed the warrant and Town Report and discussed the upcoming Town Meeting.

The Selectmen will meet with John Waterman next week to discuss Lary Rd.
