BOARD OF SELECTMEN
May 20, 2008 The regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen took place on Tuesday, May 20th at the Evans Memorial Building. Present were Rick Young, Don Philbrick and Aaron Blake. The meeting was called to order at 7 p.m. Sandy Thoms and Peter Lang met with the Board of Selectmen to discuss the Beach. Peter Lang is available to work at the Beach during the summer months. Beach stickers and guest passes were discussed. The Town will provide a list of property owners and new beach stickers will be provided. The Selectmen advised Sandy Thoms to get whatever supplies (trash cans, garbage bags etc) are needed to keep the beach clean. The Selectmen indicated it would be good to have random coverage. Full coverage of the beach should begin in late June. The minutes for the meetings of May 6th and 13th were approved as read. Rick Young updated the Board on the Snowville Cemetery. Cliff Cabral will advertize to sell the fence that has been removed. Rick Young said he had given Nancy Burns some sticks to put in the holes left by removal of the existing fence for flags for Memorial weekend. Don Philbrick said he had referred Bill Perk to the Selectmen’s meeting last week regarding subdivision and taking land out of current use. Rick Young said he had met with him last week and reviewed the information needed for a building permit. Aaron Blake reviewed what he had available for chains that could be used at the Snowville Cemetery. Measurements will be needed to determine if there is enough. The Selectmen discussed several beach issues. New stickers will be ordered, guest passes printed and list of property owners generated. Jason Call had several issues where he needed assistance. He was requesting that the Edge’s be contacted to clarify the current ownership of several parcels that had recently been transferred. He had updated the property database and a copy of the file had been given to the Tax Collector. The State has confirmed the appointment of the Deputy Fire Wardens. The Selectmen discussed items for inclusion in the Tatler. The Assessors Exchange newsletter drew attention to the number of exemptions available for property tax reduction. The Board of Selectmen reviewed, approved and signed two ‘Intent to Cut’ permits for Carroll Shackford (Tax map R5, lots 33 and 34). Suzanne Raiche said she will be doing the swimming lessons at Crystal Lake from July 1st though July 25th on Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon. Legislative Bulletin #22 from the Local Government Center summarized last minute efforts on a number of bills before the Legislature as the current session begins to wind down.
