TOWN OF EATON, NEW HAMPSHIRE 03832 EVANS MEMORIAL BUILDING
BOARD OF SELECTMEN
May 6, 2008 The regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen took place on Tuesday, May 6th, 2008 at the Evans Memorial Building. Present were: Rick Young, Don Philbrick and Aaron Blake. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. Nancy Burns and Janet Bridgham met with the Selectmen to discuss their plans for upgrading the Snowville Cemetery. They are proposing a gateway without a gate and granite posts with a chain linked fence to mark the boundary of the Cemetery. The expressed preference was for the "old" granite posts from Cliff Whitney in Hiram. There was a discussion about the value of the fence being removed and a suggestion it be used as a price bargaining tool with the contractor hired to remove it. The new posts will have to be drilled to accommodate brackets for the chains. The Selectmen gave the go ahead to proceed with the project. The minutes for the meeting of April 29th were accepted as read. Rick Young said that Debbie Callis had called requesting a letter for her mortgage company concerning the collapsed trailer she had just cleared away. Shortly thereafter, Debbie Callis came in and discussed the issue. The Selectmen agreed to send a letter stating that the site of the former trailer could not be rebuilt on as a residence. It had lost its grandfathered status and would not be able to meet current requirements for a septic system. The letter was approved and signed. The Board of Selectmen reviewed, approved and signed a letter to David Hastings II appointing Dennis Sullivan as the Eaton representative to the Henney Historical Trust. Aaron Blake inquired about the status of the Recreation/Beach Committee. Rick Young explained that the Selectmen monitored the operations at the beach and appointed the beach attendants. There was no formal recreation committee at this time. The Town of Conway had sent a schedule of meetings relating to the Regional Pandemic Influenza Emergency Plan. Legislative Bulletin #20 is still dealing with retirement system woes. The next edition of the Journal of New Hampshire Public Risk Management was received from Primex. The Local Government Center Annual Conference is scheduled for November 12-14 in Manchester. Suzanne Raiche was in attendance. The meeting adjourned at 9 00 p.m. Respectfully submitted, David V.
