BOARD OF SELECTMEN

May 29, 2007

The regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen took place on Tuesday, May 29th, 2007 at the Evans Memorial Building. Present were: Don Philbrick, Rick Young and Lee Stack. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.

The Board of Selectmen reviewed bills and signed checks.

The minutes for the meeting of May 22nd were accepted as distributed.

Holly Fortin presented the annual written request from the Waldorf School to use the Town beach on Friday, June 15th. The Selectmen approved the request.

Rick Young said he has sent copies of the leases for the blueberry fields to Ryan Bushnell and Arthur Harvey. Arthur Harvey had responded saying he had no problem with the lease. Don Philbrick said he had been told that poplar and birch trees were beginning to appear. Rick Young said it was a condition of the contracts that the fields be maintained.

Don Philbrick said he had spoken with Kenneth McKenzie about Crystal Lake Rd and the realignment of the road that had to go before the Planning Board.

The Selectmen are scheduled to meet with Department of Transportation officials and Ralph Meade of the Camp Waukeela on Thursday at either 10 or 10:30 a.m. at the Beach to discuss flooding issues. Rick Young will check on the time.

Peter Parker met with the Selectmen and discussed preservation of vital records. He is assisting the Town on such matters under the auspices of a grant from the State. He had concerns over an apparent leak in the Town Clerk’s closet but the Selectmen noted the roof had been redone since then. Peter Parker discussed the hot air furnace and the need for temperatures not to exceed 70 degrees. The Selectmen noted that the furnace was located a distance from the Town Clerk’s office and that air conditioning had recently been installed.

Rick Young said the Conservation Commission had a field trip scheduled for Saturday to look at the Willis Bean Rd and where the new bridges will go.

Nancy Burns did receive the letter from the Selectmen requiring the shed to removed from her property on Crystal Lake within 30 days.

Gail Blake was upset and complained about a problem with the Town Clerk and a vehicle registration.

Lee Stack said he will be distributing a memo to the Eaton Village Preservation Society on the various issues that have been discussed with them.

Time Warner wished to share their Communities Initiatives Report. None of their initiatives seem to involve Eaton.

The Department of Health and Human Services had notified the Town with an update on Lyme Disease.

Carol Mayhofer signed checks.

A report from the Coalition Communities discussed the status of the Legislative attempts to define "adequacy" as it relates to education and the status of the proposed constitutional amendment.

Correspondence from Attorney Tim Bates to a property owner about not obtaining building permits was reviewed.

Legislative Bulletin #22 reviewed votes by the State Senate on retirement and liability damage issues.

The Economic Council is hosting a presentation on June 5th in North Conway on the cost of living in New Hampshire.

Mark Griffin and Suzanne Raiche were in attendance.

The meeting adjourned at 9 10 p.m.
