4. BLUEBERRIES Ryan Bushnell, a young man interested in managing the blueberry fields on Foss Mt. (the area not managed by Arthur Harvey) and Brooks Pasture, met with the ECC this evening. Rick Young, Marnie Cobbs and Kristy Foster had met with him previously and recommended this meeting. Ryan explained that he is interested in managing organically and has been growing for the past 10 years with a successful wholesale business. He has a greenhouse where he starts plantings. He said he would begin by mowing Brooks Pasture and see what can be picked on Foss this year. For weed control he would balance the cost/saving of mowing with burning (maybe every five years.) He has a weedwacker for cutting woody materials and is looking for a winnower and a Yazu flail mower. He felt wild bees were the best pollinators and might also sup - plement with purchased bumblebees. Re: marketing, he would sell to restaurants, large retailers like Wholefoods, cooperatives, farmers’ markets and possibly large processors like Cherryfield Foods (for unprocessed berries.) He would like to have a crew of four or five and has some experience working with picking crews in Maine. He will talk with Arthur Harvey. It was left with Ryan that a decision would be made at the March meeting and he would be contacted the next day.

5. FOREST MANAGEMENT:  Paul spoke with Dan Stepanauskas and Dan will meet with the ECC in March.Re: bridges, Paul planned to meet with someone at DES this week to iron out any technical issues on the ECC application. ADM has placed us on their production list and can await payment until 3/07 when the CD matures. The next ECC meeting will be March 12, 2007 at 700 PM.Meeting adjourned at 9:00 PM

Respectfully submitted
