EATON CONSERVATION COMMISSION

May 8, 2006

1. Meeting was called to order by Dick Fortin at 7:00 PM. Present were Dick Fortin, Rick Young, Dick Brisbois, Judy Fowler and Kristy Foster. Ken McKenzie also attended.

ADMINISTRATION Minutes of the 4/11/06 meeting were unanimously accepted.

TREASURER?S REPORT Dick Brisbois reported:

Eaton Conservation Fund $ 5,608.56

Forest Management Fund 28,401.62

$34,010.18

Money was expended for dues to NH Association of Conservation Commissions.

4. CHERRYFIELD FOODS Ragnar Kamp was unable to meet at the time offered. Per Shay Stanwood, he and Mr. Kamp did walk the blueberry fields and they are considering rock popping in July. The ECC still wants to see the rock-popping video Cherryfield promised to be better informed on this process. A cost estimate is needed. The ECC leans toward hiring someone locally for the rock popping.

5. CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS There were six applicants for ECC scholarships to Tin Mountain Conservation Center camps and it was unanimously voted to appropriate $993 for scholarships.

6. FOREST MANAGEMENT Dan Stepanauskas will be billing for some work from last year and wants to touch base with the ECC. His rates are going up, which is in line with his initial contract for no increases in the first two years. He noted that when the bridges go in, he feels the corner of Foss Mt. Rd. and Willis Bean Rd. need widening. More information is needed on this.

7. CAMP WAUKEELA Paul Savchick will be at the 6/28 meeting at Town Hall. (See 4/11/06 minutes.)

8. SHORELAND ORDINANCE The selectmen-appointed committee has met once and will meet again 5/10/06. They will initially to go through the ECC ordinance, then review reasons behind it and then look at the state ordinance.

9. FOSS MOUNTAIN

A. Brush Cutting: Ad will be in the Conway Daily Sun 5/11/06 for work to be done between 6/1 & 10/1/06 with bids to be selectmen by 7PM on 5/23/06.

Signage: Discussion ensued re: how to do this year?s signage on Foss.

10. NEW ENGLAND WILDFLOWER SOCIETY WORKSHOP A class on wetland plant identification will be given Aug. 3&4. This will be useful information in case a Wetland Delineation is needed. Rick Young will approach the other selectmen about paying for an ECC member to attend.

The next meeting will be held June13 at 7:00 PM.
