EATON SCHOOL BOARD
August 6, 2007
MINUTES
PRESENT: Jane Gray, Patricia Philbrick, and Dr. Carl Nelson.
1. Chair Gray called the meeting to order at 5:10 p.m.
2. Approval of Minutes – Pat Philbrick moved to approve the minutes of June 4, 2007 as presented. The motion was seconded by Jane Gray and passed 2-0-0.
3. Business Affairs
A. Signing of Manifest – The manifest was signed as presented.
4. Superintendent's Report
A. The SAU Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new high school is August 23rd at 2:00 p.m.
B. New teacher orientation sessions are August 21, 22, and 23 at the North Conway Grand.
C. Work on the middle school is underway.
D. Work on the SAU office will start as soon as the asbestos abatement is complete.
5. Any Other Business
A. Consider Election of W. Denny Cromwell as Bus Driver and Establish Salary for the 2007-08 School Year – Pat Philbrick moved to elect W. Denny Cromwell as bus driver for the 2007-08 school year and establish his hourly rate of pay at $12.49 per hour. The motion was seconded by Jane Gray and passed 2-0-0.
B. Set Date for Next Meeting – September 10, 2007 at 5:00 p.m. in the library at Conway Elementary School.
6. Board Member Issues
A. Review of Draft Letter to Students – The Board discussed the draft letter, and would like it on the September agenda for final approval. The Board will also develop a second follow-up letter. Jane will draft this letter.
7. Nonpublic Session – none
8. Adjourn – Pat Philbrick moved to adjourn the meeting. The motion was seconded by Jane Gray and passed 2-0-0 at 5:21 p.m.
Judie Goss arrived at 5:25 p.m. and Board members and Carl explained what had transpired at the meeting.
